The Nine Star Story
I finished my squid sculpture Monday night. It’s a squid made out of 11,400+ cotton swab tips. It took about 2 1/2 weeks to complete.
Our next project in 3D design was assigned; we have to use common materials in an uncommon way. An example would be using dirt and leaves for a couch. So we can just build up to an object that is uncommon. I’ve decided to use cotton swabs as my only material. There might be a shortage in San Marcos by the time I am done. What I have planned to build is set, but I won’t say yet. I can say that it has a ocean theme. I’ve been setting the mood so that I can be inspired. The first thing I thought of was music. There is nothing better than chanting sailor shanties to make this project come together. I went on iTunes to find a few CDs. So I bought the Maritime Crew album and The Seadogs album. They are fantastic albums to me; I could listen to this all day, which I have been doing. The Seadogs have more of the traditional maritime songs.

Last night I decided to draw the nautical flag alphabet for myself. The hues aren’t very traditional, but I thought I’d make it match my style. After I finished this I wanted to change my Twitter picture to use the flags. I chose to use NSS along with my silhouette. Once that was finished I needed to redesign the Twitter page as well. So I drew these “deadly” ocean waves for the background.
I’ll be really busy with the end of the semester coming up. After it’s over I’ll be moving to a new apartment, and then summer courses.
